Lady Tigers versus the second half

The Dripping Springs High School Lady Tigers found themselves in a major battle to make the basketball playoffs last week, falling short to Austin and Bowie High Schools. Now, their main goal is finishing above .500 on the season.

When any team is playing the number two team in the state and is ranked lower, it is expected they will have a rough outing. While DSHS fought fiercely in the first half, Austin High held off the battling Lady Tiger basketball squad. Scoring for the Lady Tigers was even more difficult in the second half, and Dripping Springs managed a single basket in the third quarter. No points were scored by the Lady Tigers in the fourth quarter, resulting in a 15-52 loss.

The subsequent Bowie game held the Lady Tigers fate in their hands. The Lady Tigers knew the importance of this game and played strong in the first half. They led after one quarter 12-4 and eased that out to a 25-15 lead at the half, thanks to some timely free throws by MaKynna Hubbard.

However, the Lady Tigers saw yet another rough second half against Bowie. Although the Lady Tigers still held a 31-29 edge after three quarters, the fourth quarter saw little scoring from the DSHS team. Bowie had an 8-0 run to take the lead 37-31. The Lady Tigers managed to get as close as 38-41 before falling 38-42.
