Article Image Alt Text

It was mostly a cakewalk as the Lady Tigers took on the Harlandale Indians in the Bi-district softball playoffs. Each game started a little slow for DS but business picked up as they defeated the Indians 7-0 and 12-2 to move on. They will now take on SA Southwest for the Area title. Southwest, 32-6-1, was second in District 28 and defeated Alamo Heights 11-0, 17-0. The Lady Tigers have a 34-2 record. Check with school website for details.

After a scoreless first inning in the first game, Bailey Hudgeons would get the scoring started with a single. She was bunted to second, took third on an error and scored on a sac fly. In the fifth Brooke Rummel reached on an error and Camille Corona singled. They would be brought in by Kendall Womack's single. Mackenzie Pierpoint would score in the sixth and Womack, Rummel and Hudgeons would put icing on the cake with runs. Logan Hulon pitched the shutout.

Harlandale put together their only threat in their first at bat that resulted in two runs. A ground-rule double being the big blow. The Indians started a very medium speed pitcher and it baffled the Lady Tigers for a short while but one knew the Lady Tigers would adjust. DS collected one run in second and then scored five in each of the next two innings and invoked the 10-run rule in the fifth. The Lady Tigers banged out 13 hits in each of their two contests.
