Lady Tigers soccer wins district, Tigers in danger

Dripping Springs High School’s Lady Tigers notched their fifth consecutive district soccer championship when they eased past Lake Travis High School 1-0. This is their first year in the UIL Conference 6A.

Ellie Hodsden, the team's leading scorer, found the net late in the game for the all important win. To clinch the honor, DSHS closed out the season with a 9-0 win over Del Valle High School and topped Anderson High School 4-1. Everyone got in the scoring action with Del Valle as goals were made by Ellie Hodsden, Alison Dement, Taylor Hodsden, Alex Knutson, Hayley Bodman, Riley Sisson, Eden Tomhave, Reese Braymen and Gabriel Ridenhour.

The Lady Tigers scored 88 goals in their 17-3-2; 14-0-2 season. The bidistrict match with Stony Point High School will be the week after Spring Break.

Meanwhile, a 0-4 loss to Lake Travis and 1-6 loss to Del Valle resulted in slim chances for DSHS Tiger soccer to make the playoffs. A 5-1 victory over Anderson kept hopes alive with goals from Merrill, Mason Russell and Kyle Baucum.

Against Lake Travis, the JV game tied at zero, and the ninth-grade team tied at one. JV defeated Del Valle 2-1, while the ninth-grade team lost 1-2. Against Anderson, the JV game was a 0-0 tie, and ninth grade lost 0-1.
