Lady Tigers Basketball fall to Kerville
The Lady Tigers saw their playoff run come to a screeching halt at the regional quarterfinals when they ran up against a strong state-ranked Kerrville team and fell 68-26. Kerrville's only loss was by two points to Smithson Valley in November, so their quality was known. The Lady Tigers could not find any shooting accuracy during the game and probably Kerrville's talent had a lot to do with that. DS hit 6-24 from two and 4-16 from three. Two for two at the line shows Kerrville was not giving away any points by fouling.
DS had their best scoring effort in the initial quarter but still found themselves behind the eight ball trailing 21-12. By the half it had grown to a 32-14 deficit. After expanding the lead to 56-22 after three, the game was turned over to the reserves.
The Lady Tigers finished the season 25-14, breaking through the Area barrier for the first time since 2005. With a good nucleus of underclassmen, Dripping Springs should be in position to make an even better run next year.
In the Area game with SA Brackenridge, the Lady Tigers found themselves facing an uphill battle in the first quarter as they fell behind 20-14. From that point DS took control and slowly pulled away for the 56-47 victory. A lot of the success could be found in the performance of Kline Stafford as she had the best game of her young career as she pumped in 26 points. DS still trailed 31-30 at the half but had gained the lead at 45-40 after three. Shooting percentages were much better in this game. DS hit 18-34 from two, 3-18 from three and 11-19 from the line.
