Lady Tiger Softball has banner week
The Lady Tigers softball team had a banner week as they went through with a 6-0 record. This included their opening district game and then winning the Brenham tourney against some strong teams. They are 17-2 on the season and certainly looking like a state contender.
Travis was the first district opponent and unfortunately, it will mostly be the fate of the Lady Tigers for all but one team. Since it was away, the game had to go three full innings. It was a 19-0, no hit, verdict.
Brenham provided a variety of games. They opened with Conroe Oak Ridge. DS struck for three runs in the first and that would have been enough as Logan Hulon pitched a no-hitter in the 7-0 win. Katy Tompkins took a 4-3 lead on a three-run third but Lady Tigers fought back with a run in the fourth to tie and Ryann Campbell stroked a double to drive in the winning run in the 5-4 decision. Willis, a state-tourney team, hooked up in a major duel. DS would open with 2 and add one in the fifth to blank Willis 3-0 with Hulon getting another no-hitter. Mission Pioneer were holding their own at 1-1 until the fifth when the Lady Tigers blew it open with five to earn a 6-2 win. The grand finale was another good one. Emory Rains could not manage a run and in their final inning, Brooke Rummel tripled and Camille Corona singled her in for the 1-0 victory.
