Lacrosse teams get first wins

“This game against Rockwall was a great way to kick off our season,” said Head Coach Bill Cafferata. “The entire team put together a complete game with a tenacious ride.."

The Dripping Springs Tiger Lacrosse team kicked off its 2020 campaign against the 2017 D2 State Champion Rockwall Yellowjackets. Lacrosse prognosticators expected the contest to be a close one, but the Tigers turned a few heads with a 20-4 blowout over the Dallas area foe. Dripping Springs scored :12 into the game after junior Alex Schlab won the opening faceoff and senior Brayden Glass scored the first of his 4 goals. Senior Cristian Reno had 3 goals and 5 assists. Senior Pierce Walker also had a hat trick and carried in the team hammer as practice player of the week. Schlab was a perfect 15 of 15 at faceoff and Glass took home the game ball. Ten different players scored goals for the Tigers. “This game against Rockwall was a great way to kick off our season,” said Head Coach Bill Cafferata. “The entire team put together a complete game with a tenacious ride. Four players combined to win all 24 faceoffs. We forward to our next challenge against Round Rock on Thursday night.” The Tigers are at home. JV starts at 6PM and D1 Varsity takes the field at 8PM. Game admission is free. 

Dripping Springs played its first dual varsity game in program history. The Division 2 and JV teams traveled to San Antonio to play TMI and Harlan respectively. D2 jumped out to a 9-0 lead, and eventually secured a 9-4 win. Ty Bailey was awarded the game ball. Matt Richardson had 3 goals and 2 assists.  JV had a convincing win over Harlan 16-3. Aiden Kane had 4 goals and 4 assists.
