Dripping Springs Lady Tigers split a pair

It is time for the Dripping Springs High School Lady Tigers basketball team to jump into the district fray of District 26-6A.

With nine teams in the district, a team has to start early and stay late. The Lady Tigers have one more non-district game and will open at home on Friday, Dec. 2, with Austin High School, a team that will keep you up late worrying about all the talent they have. Their final tuneup will be against St. Michaels there.

Last week, DSHS split a pair of games with Burnet and Taylor to give them a 5-4 record. Burnet has had a good program for the past few years and showed their strength with a 57-24 win.

Meanwhile, Taylor provided all the toughness the Lady Tigers needed. The Lady Tigers showed their grit by repelling the efforts of the Lady Ducks whenever they pushed for the lead. DSHS would outscore Taylor in each quarter to maintain a lead in the 4335 victory. The Lady Tigers held a 13-10 margin after one and held onto a 24-19 advantage at the half. It was 33-27 after three.

Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Hayden Ely (10), Jordan Cox (8), Kiera O'Connor (6), Rain Collins (5), Megan Hancock (4), Peyton Richards (2), Linan Scott (2), Cameron Hall (2), Brylee Russell (2) and Azaria Arnold (2).
