Boys Basketball win over McCallum

McCallum proved to be a worthy opponent for the Tigers (4-0) as they strive to go through the district opponents undefeated. That should not be a surprise as one realizes the Knights always seem to compete well in all sports. They had two players that looked as if they could be a thorn in the side, but the pressure defense of the Tigers appeared to put them off their game enough to have a bad night as the Tigers slowly pulled away to a 46-35 win.

The Tigers had their own shooting woes in the first as they could hit only 5-15. McCallum led 9-4 at 2.26 mark but the Tigers battled back and Connor Parks basket with 16 seconds tied it at 11 but a buzzer-beater allowed the Knights to lead 13-11 after one. Alema Louis had a big quarter (8) and it was needed as the Tigers went to the break leading 25-21.

It was McCallum's time to rally in the third. They would take a 27-26 lead but baskets by Trace Young, Kyle Rioux and Parks in an 8-2 run gave DS a 34-29 advantage after three. Enzo Arnold and Xavier Phillips each had a couple of baskets and Mc-Callum's lack thereof put the final nails in the coffin.

At press time, no other details were given but the Tigers fell to the Reagan Raiders 60-41 to put the district race in to a muddle. Those details will be in the next issue.

Vs McCallum: Louis 9, Parks 8, Arnold 6, Rioux 6, Nick Statz 5, Young 4, Phillips 4, Tyler Smith 2, Ben Bondurant 2.
