Virginia “June” Lea Crain Turner

February 13, 2020

Virginia Lea Crain Turner left this world to meet her beloved Savior February 13, 2020 at age 93. “June” as she was known, was preceded in death by her parents, Bowden Oliver Crain and Bertha Elizabeth Dysart, her husband Hal Turner and her brother Wallace Crain. Born and raised in Dallas Texas, she attended Sunset High School, where she met her future husband as a senior in 1944. Hal and June married on June 14, 1947 and moved to the Casa Linda area where they lived until 1981. Upon Hal’s retirement from the lumber business, they moved to Dripping Springs, TX. There they made many friends and were active in Friendship Baptist Church and the Dripping Springs community. June’s life was spent in devoted service to her family, her church and the Lord. She never met a stranger and always went out of her way to make people welcome. She was a wonderful cook with the true gift of hospitality.

With Hal’s health fading, they moved to Austin for a few years then settled in Boerne in 2009 to be close to her daughter Cindy and son in law Phil. Hal passed in 2010 after a long illness. June never left his side and was as faithful a caregiver as any nurse. As the effects of Alzheimer’s began to take their toll, June moved to a Senior Living Center in Keller TX in 2016 to be close to her other daughter Peggy and son in law Scott as well as her granddaughter Lauren and great granddaughter Finley June. June was in excellent care at Avalon Memory Care, Keller, TX when she passed peacefully in the night.

June is survived by daughters Peggy Sterling (Scott), Cindy Shipley (Phil), grandchildren Lauren Schneider (David), Michael Sterling, Joshua Shipley, Jessica Shipley and great granddaughter Finley June Schneider.
