Larry Eugene Temple

1953 – 2019

Larry Eugene Temple, age 66, passed peacefully while surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 5, 2019.

Larry worked years in Mississippi as a real estate agent and petroleum landman and with the Department of Human Services.

In 1997, Larry was recruited to Austin, Texas to serve the Texas Workforce Commission as Director of Welfare Reform. He would serve in that position until 2004, when he then became Executive Director of the agency, serving faithfully until his passing. The agency strengthened under his leadership, becoming one of the most comprehensive and integrated workforce development systems in the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Lucille (Beason) Temple, and brother, David Temple. He is survived by his sister, Judy (Temple) McDonald, wife Benita (Ganzerla) Temple, sons Brad and Daniel Temple, grandchildren, Patrick and Victoria Temple, daughter's-in-law Shirley (Agudelo) Temple and Erin (Williams) Temple, and by many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 26160 Ranch Rd. 12, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.

A Rosary service will also be held at Saint Martin de Porres on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Federation for the Blind of Texas (www.nfbtx.org).
