Analee (Martin) Parten

1935 – 2018

Analee (Martin) Parten, 83, of Buda, Texas, died peacefully on Dec. 23, 2018, with her family by her side. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later time.

Analee was born in Stephenville, Texas, on Nov. 16, 1935, the daughter of John and Inez Martin. She moved with her parents and sister, Daisy, to Johnson City, Texas, in 1938 and remained there until graduating from high school in 1953.

After attending business school, she worked as a relief manager for Western Union Telegraph Co., traveling the country for work and living in several states along the way. She loved her work and remained with the company for many years.

She married William “Bill” Parten on May 12, 1962 and the couple lived for many years in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1977.

After his death, Analee returned to the Texas Hill Country with her daughter, Constance. She worked as a property tax appraiser for Blanco County for many years and later served as the tax assessor/collector for the Dripping Springs Independent School District.

After retirement, Analee moved to Austin and worked part-time for the American Cancer Society, supporting people over the phone in their efforts to quit smoking. Having been a smoker herself for many decades, she took great pride in this work and loved the small part she played in helping people overcome their addiction.

Analee loved to cook, travel, play solitaire, bird watch and spend time cuddling with her “grand pets.”

She is survived by her daughter, Constance Brinkley-Badgett and wife, Alison, of Buda, Texas; nephew Craig Cox and wife, Nancy, of Round Rock, Texas; and their children, Cameron, Shelby and Cassie.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Analee’s name to the American Cancer Society or Austin Pets Alive.
