YMCA Cancer Survivor Program Gearing Up for Spring Session

LIVESTRONG
Classes are small group sessions, and focus on individualized strength training, and balance and flexibility.

The Springs Family YMCA is accepting registrations for the Spring session of their LIVESTRONG Cancer Survivor Program.  The program is a free, twelve-week physical activity and wellness program for people who have completed cancer treatment and their families or caregivers. Participants receive free access to the Y for the duration of the program, and meet for classes twice a week; the classes are scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays from 1 - 2:15 pm. Classes are small group sessions, and focus on individualized strength training, and balance and flexibility.  Group classes such as Tai Chi and water aerobics are also part of the program.

The exact start date is to be determined.  “We are ready to go as soon as we fill the class,” said Bernadette Johnson, Health and Wellness Director at the Y.  “If you’ve gone through cancer and want to start working on fitness in a supportive environment, this is a great opportunity to do so.”  To register, contact Johnson at 512-894-3309 or [email protected].
