Women’s Club announces scholarship winner

The Dripping Springs Women’s Club recently announced its scholarship awar ds to two very deserving female Dripping Springs High School students, Kelsey Cathey and Caitlin Lawrence. Ms. Cathey will attend Texas State University where she will continue her studies in the medical field. n high school, Kelsey served as an of - ficer of the DS HS H ealth Occupations Students of America. Having completed 100 hours of direct pharmacy experience, Kelsey is alr eady registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a technician. I n high school. Ms. Cathey also played soccer and was v oted team captain and most valuable player. She has par ticipated in many volunteer activities and was a member of G irl Scouts of America for 11 y ears. As a member of the National Honor Society, Kelsey participated in leadership, service and character forming projects.

Ms. Lawrence will attend Texas A & M wher e she will study electrical engineering or focus on becoming a math professor. As a softball player for the DS Tigers and a select team, Caitlin volunteered as a coach for younger girls in a y outh program. services. Caitlin has worked to pr ovide child car e services at her chur ch and for families. She has also held jobs as a cashier and as a math tutor for high school students. Ms. Lawrence received all “A” report cards during her four y ears of high school. Caitlin is described as “responsible, creative, driven, collaborative and fie cely intelligent.”

Each year the women’s club selects recipients from a gr oup of applicants to r eceive their scholarships. Any female stu - dents who attend public, private or are home schooled and who have been accepted to college may apply pr ovided they liv e within the DS ISD boundaries.

The DS Women’s Club was founded in 2007 to provide any women who live or work in the greater Dripping Springs area a means for interaction, information and community inv olvement through programs and activities of interest and enjoyment.
