Texas Film Commission acknowledges City as film friendly
Kim LeBlanc, of the Texas Film Commission, presented the City of Dripping Springs with a “Dripping Springs Film Friendly Community Certificate” at the City Council meeting on Dec. 11.
“We’re really excited to have Dripping Springs be on the official Film Friendly Texas Community list, especially since we’ve already had so many productions in our area,” Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau President and CEO Pam Owens said. “Now that we’re ‘official’ scouts/directors will have ready access to photos, sites and contacts in our community.”
The Visitors Bureau would also like to hear from people in the community who think they may have something to offer a visiting film crew. ““If anyone has a piece of property, a building, a stretch of road or even a vista, the film industry might like to have, contact the Visitors Bureau and we’ll let you know how to upload photos,” Owens said. The Visitors Bureau can be contacted at: [email protected].
According to Owens, the promotion of Dripping Springs as a film location makes sense form an economic development point of view. “When there is a film production of any type in our area, local businesses are impacted positively – even if it’s coffee for the film crew. And it’s fun and interesting for the rest of us to see!” Owens said.
Some well-known films shot in the Dripping Springs area are: “Iron Resurrection,” “Chasing Grace,” “The Alamo,” “The Son,” and “Predators.”
Also, currently TV show producers of “Fear of the Walking Dead” are lurking throughout Hays County, and Dripping may well be targeted.
