Springs Family YMCA holds Community Resource Fair

We hope to do this again next year, and keep it as an ongoing event," Pat Surguy, YMCA Membership Coordinator, said.

The Springs Family YMCA, in partnership with the Dripping Springs Community Foundation and Methodist Healthcare Ministries, will hosted a Community Resource Fair last weekend. The fair provided fair attendees with information on a variety of community resources ranging from financial assistance for utilities and household bills, to job searches, to health services.

“This is something we’ve been meaning to do for the past two years or so, and I’m glad we were finally able to coordinate it with all the parties involved, including our co-sponsors in the Dripping Springs Community Foundation and the Methodist Healthcare Ministries,” Pat Surguy, YMCA Membership Coordinator, said. “For our first effort, it was a great success. I think people really appreciated it, and even our organizational participants were amazed by the amount of resources out there. We hope to do this again next year, and keep it as an ongoing event.”

Some of the volunteers manning the tables had their own stories to tell. Bryce Crane, a 2017 graduate of Dripping Springs High School, manned the Team Luk3 Table, which provides assistance for kids with brain injury. Crane benefited from the organization himself when he suffered an accident while mountain bike riding. “I don’t really know what happened. I was STAR Flighted out, and woke up in the hospital,” Crane said. “I had to relearn how to use my limbs, and Team Luk3 was great support for me and my family. That’s why I volunteer for them.”
