Smith to host 290 Safety and Planning Meeting

Pct. 4 Hays County Commissioner Walt Smith will host a “Highway 290 Safety and Planning Meeting” on Monday Jun. 17, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Sunset Canyon Baptist Church, 4000 E. Highway 290.

The open community meeting will be an opportunity for residents to give suggestions on way to make Highway 290 safer and speak with their elected officials, law enforcement, and TxDOT.

Attending the meeting will be Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler, Pct. 4 Constable Ron Hood, TxDOT Engineer Epi Gonzalez, Travis County Risk/Safety Specialist Donna Stirman, and 290 Safety Coalition President Sarah Kline.

The 290 Safety Coalition is a safety campaign begun by Belterra resident Sarah Kline, which advocates a reduction of the speed limit on Highway 290 in the Dripping Springs area, and promotes local traffic safety awareness.
