New columns to feature wildfire awareness, camping outdoors

This week, you’ll see two new columns. The first is called “All it Takes is One Spark,” because as we all know, that is truly what it takes for a wildfire to occur in Dripping Springs, or anywhere for that matter. This will be a limited series to share information about wildfire awareness and prevention. DSCN is proud to partner with our local fire department (North Hays County Fire Rescue), the City’s Emergency Management Commission and the Texas A&M Forest Service to produce this series. Expect a total of three articles that will run every other week starting with this issue.

For all you outdoor enthusiasts, you know that fall is prime camping season in Texas. Our family is taking advantage of this time of year to do just that. I received some encouragement from friends to write about our travels to offer families ideas for places to visit in our great state. So, every once in a while, I’ll share our experience as we explore Texas “One Campsite at a Time.” Let me know what you think. Do you have any camping trips planned this fall?
