Local veterans and first responders remember 9/11

Local veterans and first responders gathered at “The Triangle” Friday morning to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

Due to COVID-19, the ceremony, organized by VFW Post 2933 and American Legion Post 290 was kept small. TAPS was played, and the flag was lowered at 8:46 a.m.--the time the first crash occurred at the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York.

“Dripping Springs did not forget the terrible event that happened to our country 19 years ago,” Gary Hale said, Post Quartermaster for VFW Post 2933. “Even in a small town we remembered. That is the importance of Patriot Day. Never Forget. Our country came together on the next day. Thousands of people all over our country started flying flags. We came together as a nation with a promise to fight terrorism. And we did. Always "Honor and Remember" those Police, Firemen, EMT workers, military personnel, and civilians who gave their lives on that day.”

Nearly three thousand people died in the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania.
