LCRA accepting $50,000 in community grant applications

The Lower Colorado River Authority will accept grant applications for community projects in LCRA’s wholesale electric or water service areas in July. Grants of up to $50,000 are available.

Applications for the Community Development Partnership Program grants will be available at lcra.org/cdpp beginning July 1 and are due by July 31.

The grant program recently helped fund 22 projects, including providing emergency equipment to firefighters and other first responders, replacing outdated air conditioning systems in meeting halls and renovating a historic courthouse.

To date, LCRA and its wholesale electric customers have awarded 1,672 community grants totaling than $44 million. When combined with more than $223 million in community-raised matching funds, the total investment in projects is almost $268 million.

Eligible organizations include volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, local governments, schools, libraries, civic groups, museums and other nonprofit organizations. For-profit entities, individuals, professional associations and nonprofits with limited group memberships are not eligible for CDPP grants.

For a list of eligibility requirements or more information, visit lcra.org/cdpp or call the grant coordinator at 800-776-5272, ext. 3140.
