In an effort to help support and protect inperson students, teachers, staff, and administrators during the pandemic, Julie Oliver, Democratic candidate for Texas’ 25th Congressional District, held a PPE drive in Dripping Springs for local schools.

On Saturday evening, September 12, Oliver and volunteers gathered outside Sententia Vera Cultural Hub to collect PPE donations. Some of the supplies donated included disposable face masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and liquids. “As a mom whose kiddo is starting sixth grade online, I know that we’re all focused on keeping our kids safe, and we want our teachers and staff protected, too,” Oliver said.

Donations from the drive in Dripping Springs will benefit Hays County schools including DSISD. Oliver also held drives in Steiner Ranch and in Johnson County.

“We’ve organized these PPE drives to help ease some of the anxiety we’re all feeling with our kids heading back to campus; to help protect our schools in this uncertain time; and to help support our teachers, staff, principals, vice principals, counselors, coaches, cafeteria workers, and everyone else shouldering health risks to support our kids day in and day out,” Oliver said. “Insufficient federal funding to support a safe learning environment means the brunt of COVID protection falls on parents and school workers. This is unacceptable -- school and learning should be safe and accessible, always. I am committed to helping bridge the gap.”
