DSISD officially unveils new elementary school in Driftwood
The Dripping Springs Independent School District has expanded to better meet the needs of students in nearby Driftwood.
Although students in Driftwood already attended DSISD schools, the new Cypress Springs Elementary School campus is the first to actually be located outside Dripping Springs. Established this year as DSISD’s fifth elementary school, the campus on Darden Hill Road welcomed students for the first time on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
On Thursday, Sept. 9, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially unveil the school with remarks by school officials and a performance by the Sycamore Springs Middle School band. The new school song was also introduced during the program.
Following the ceremony, visitors were invited to tour the building at their leisure.
The creation of Cypress Springs Elementary was included in the 2018 bond program, with construction starting in early summer of 2020.
