This order does not impact our transition to remote/virtual learning.

On March 26, Dripping Springs ISD has extended its current hiatus until April 13 in support of the current “Stay at Home” COVID-19 related orders issued by the state and county governments.

The DSISD update said in part, “DSISD has extended the suspension of normal school operations through Monday, April 13. Information on instructional support and virtual/remote learning for our students has been provided by classroom teachers. The DSISD Technology Department is working with families who indicated a need for technology resources via survey. Eligible students also are being provided daily lunches during this time…Dripping Springs ISD is fully committed to the health and well-being of all students, staff and the DSISD community. Regarding [COVID-19], Dripping Springs ISD is monitoring developments and adhering to guidance from local health officials, the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).”

In a separate communication specifically at students and their families, DSISD said:

Dear DSISD Families,

You may have seen the announcement that Hays County has issued a “Stay at Home, Work Safe” order, which will go into effect at 11 p.m. on March 26. To fully support county, state and national efforts and do our part to slow the spread of Coronavirus and keep our community safe, Dripping Springs ISD will be extending our school closure/remote learning format through at least Monday, April 13, 2020. We will continue to follow new developments related to the pandemic and evaluate our status on an ongoing basis.

This order does not impact our transition to remote/virtual learning. I’d like to thank our instructional leaders and teachers for doing an amazing job preparing a plan and creating lessons and learning activities for our students. While it will look and feel differently than our normal school days, I know that we can continue to support the academic and social-emotional needs of our students through this time.

The order does not impact the essential services the district is providing such as mobile meals for our Free and Reduced Lunch program participants. The Child Nutrition Department will provide updates regarding those services.

We appreciate the understanding and adaptability from our staff, students, parents and community during these unusual times. Thank you for your support and stay safe.
