Drip celebrates Memorial Day with rodeo

The highlight of the Memorial Day weekend for Dripping Springs residents this year seemed to be the Dripping Springs Rodeo and Fair.

The event, held at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center ran from May 26–28. Spectators filled the stands all three nights for a classic barrel racing exhibition and competition on Friday night, the rodeo contest and live music on Saturday and the final rodeo throw down on Sunday.

On Friday, winners of Trailer Loading, Branding, Stray Gathering and Penning competitions were awarded buckles by RB Custom Buckles — as did the Top Hand and Top Horse.

Rodeo competitors vied for best times on Saturday and Sunday in bronco riding, bull riding, calf roping and other events.

Braydon Zink’s brand of country music filled the arena with live music on Saturday night.

Winners of Saturday’s Cornhole Tournament received prizes of $750, $500 and $250 for first, second and third places respectively.

On Sunday, young challengers competed in mutton bustin’ under the watchful eyes of parents, arena hands and a rodeo clown. Vendors selling clothing, food, ice cream, snow cones and other rodeo related items lined the DSRP’s halls.
