Daniel and Bristol earn Silver Awards

Highest Award for middle school age Girl Scouts

Two Dripping Springs Girl Scouts, Providence Daniel and Evelyn Bristol, each have earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award given by Girl Scouts of America to girls of Middle School age. Both girls, members of Dripping Springs Girl Scout troop 2410, this past year organized and completed separate significant community service projects in the Dripping Springs area.

Evelyn Bristol build oil nesting boxes for her community, and fabricated ready to build owl nesting kits for the children at Foster Village to assemble. When the older foster kids assembled their owl boxes, Evelyn provided owl-themed crafts for the younger children to accomplish as the older kids assembled owl boxes. The owl boxes are placed in Dripping Springs, and Austin.

Providence Daniel built an outdoor “Little Lending Library” in her neighborhood and located it at the Ledgestone Amenity Center. The library was stocked with suitable children books donated in a book drive organized by Providence, to take and use, and for the long term, to receive books from donors.  Children using the library are in for a real treat from now on.

Both girls chose their community projects as something they could do to make their community better long term; to connect with the community of Dripping Springs in a way that reflects the best of America's youth and the Girl Scout movement. Both girls are active members of Dripping Springs/Wimberley girl scouts, Dripping Springs Girl Scout troop 2410.
