COVID-19 related fatality in Dripping Springs

One new COVID-related fatality, a Dripping Springs male in his 60s, was reported on December 4 by the Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD). The Health Department also reported 82 new lab-confirmed cases, 8 (eight) new hospitalizations, two (2) new hospital discharges and 65 additional people now considered recovered. The total number of individuals considered recovered is 6,753.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases is 7,644 with 785 of those considered active. The number of active cases from just the past 21 days is 1,113. There are 92 active cases in Dripping Springs. The number of probable cases is 915. The HCLHD reports probable cases separately in their COVID-19 updates.

The number of negative tests is 53,442. Hays County has had 445 total hospitalizations and 15 people are currently hospitalized. This week, 30 cases were removed from the cumulative total in an internal data audit by the Health Department.

According to Epidemiologist Ian Harris, the coronavirus is still very active in Hays County.

“We want to keep encouraging the community to practice the recommended safety precautions,” he said. “With the holidays approaching and the year coming to an end, it is important we work together and not get complacent.”
