NOW - Library Porch-Side Service

The Dripping Springs Community Library is now open using modified porchside service. “During this time, library staff will be in place from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

This means that you may put print books, DVDs, and CDBs on Reserve by logging into your library account.

You can begin You will get the usual notification when the library materials are available for pickup. Bring your library card or driver's license to show when you come to pick up Reserves between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Please call us when you are at the front door. We appreciate your understanding that after 4pm, we will be cleaning and pulling library materials for the next day and unavailable for delivering your materials to the door. If you are coming to the library, we strongly encourage and appreciate that you wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing.” DSCL is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive; their telephone is (512) 858-7825.

NOW-U.S. Census Bureau Field Operations

Vote The U.S. Census Bureau, in coordination with Federal, State and local health officials, will begin a phased restart of some 2020 Census field operations in select geographic areas this week, including Hays County.

As part of the phased restart of operations, the Census Bureau will resume dropping off 2020 Census invitation packets at front doors of households in areas where the majority of households do not receive mail at their home. The Census Bureau has ordered face masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer for all field staff, including those who work in the field offices. For ACOs, the Census Bureau has also ordered disinfectant wipes.

Science Mill (in Johnson City) Re-opens

Open 6 days a week, with two entry times most days: Tues-Sat, 10-1pm & 2-5pm and Sun, 12-4pm. The museum will space out visits so everyone can freely explore while keeping a safe distance. You’ll see all Science Mill staff wearing masks and gloves.

While inside the museum, all guests ages 5 and up will need masks as well. There is a new online ticketing system for a “contactless” entry. For more information, please visit sciencemill.org/whatsnew

Founders Pool Opens by Reservation

July 4

Fire in the Sky (Fireworks Show)

Fire in the Sky will take place on July 4th at 9:30 p.m. from the Dripping Springs Sports and Recreation Park behind HEB. The park will be CLOSED to ALL spectators. Please plan to socially distance and watch from the Home Depot or HEB Parking lots, or any other parking lots (with permission) from the downtown Dripping Springs/ Mercer Street Area. The event is hosted and coordinated by Jason and Carrie Isaac and co-sponsored by Destination Dripping Springs and the City of Dripping Springs.

HCMGA Tree Sale

The Hays County Master Gardeners will host their annual Plant and Tree Sale in Dripping Springs on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 3PM to 6PM at Drippings Springs Farmers Market. This year the sale will feature native and adapted perennials, herbs and of course Texas Superstar plants that will actually thrive here in our hot Texas weather, unlike many of the plants you will find at the big-box stores.

HCMGA will also be selling ornamental & small trees and shade trees on a pre-order only basis. Details and order forms are available on the HCMGA website. Please note, while the group remains optimistic, they cannot guarantee that this sale will occur as scheduled due to the uncertainties around COVID-19.
