City employee receives award

Emily Long, a City of Dripping Springs employee, has been recognized as the 2018 “Outstanding Part-Time Employee of the Year.” The award comes from the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) – Central Region.

The “Outstanding Part-Time Employee” award is presented to a part-time or seasonal employee who has made outstanding contributions to the parks department. Long was employed with the city this summer, through the parks and community services department as a lifeguard at Founders Memorial Pool.

During her time of employment, Long went above and beyond to create memorable experiences for the pool guests. She led the pool team in learning new software that would allow them to accept credit card payments—a first for the pool. Long also aims to acquire certifications such as certified water safety instructor and aquatic facility operator to further add to her credentials.

Pool Manager, Aaron Bond, accepted the award on Emily’s behalf at the TRAPS awards luncheon on November 7, as she is currently studying at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
