‘Th under in Th e Hills’ 10th attracts top percussion groups in the region
What began as a gloomy, overcast Saturday morning turned into a rainy day, but in the Competition Gym, all was bright when percussion ensembles representing 23 of the top bands in Central Texas during the 10th Anniversary Edition of Dripping Springs High School’s “Thunder in The Hills” Percussion Competition took to the floor. During the day-long contest, guest judges scored four classes of percussion ensembles: Intermediate Small, Intermediate Large, Advanced Small and Advanced Large, the largest class of competitors. “Performance scores were based on Ensemble Analysis and Field Analysis,” said Chief Judge and DSHS Assistant Director Jason Dye. “Some of the scores were separated by fractions of a point.” Midway through the competition, percussionists from the DSHS Tiger Marching Band took to the floor delivering an outstanding performance.
