Lions Club tees up Annual Charity Golf Tournament

“We are proud to host our 28th annual Charity Lions Club golf tournament,”  Lions Club Golf Committee Chairman Theo Krenek said. “Our golf tournament raises money for local scholarships and supports more than a dozen local charities and organizations.”  

The Dripping Springs Lion Club will host its 28th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Quicksand Golf Course at Woodcreek.  The four-golfer team Florida Scramble format tournament will offer special prizes for the top-two finishes, plus door prizes.   The shotgun-start tee time is scheduled at 8:30 a.m., and the tournament is open to the public.  Lunch will be served after the tournament.

“We are proud to host our 28th annual Charity Lions Club golf tournament,”  Lions Club Golf Committee Chairman Theo Krenek said. “Our golf tournament raises money for local scholarships and supports more than a dozen local charities and organizations.”  

Sponsorships and hole sponsors are still available.  The entry fee is $75 per golfer, or $300 per team, and includes golf carts, green fees, entries into the long-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, lunch and door prizes.  Mulligans may be purchased at the tournament for $5 each (limit two). 

The Dripping Springs Lions Club supports the Hays County Livestock Show, the Burke Center, Hays County Brown Santa, Red Arena, Pound House Pioneer Day,  Dripping Springs Youth Orchestra, DSHS Community Service Day, Helping Hands, Hometown Missions, Friends Foundation, Kairos, Service Dog program, the Austin Zoo, Texas Lions Camp (a free camping facility in Kerrville for children with physical disabilities, type 1 diabetes or cancer), Camp Counselor Scholarships, and the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank in Manor.  The Lions Club gave $12,000 in scholarships to Dripping Springs High School Seniors this year.   The Dripping Springs Lions Club also provides free vision screenings for children aged 6 months through 6 years as part of KidSight USA, a nationwide program to safeguard children’s vision.

The Dripping Springs Lions Club meets the first and third Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at DS Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Drive (off of RR12), Dripping Springs.  

Since 1917 Lions Clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired, championed youth initiatives and strengthened local communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects. Lions are a global service network of volunteers that make a difference in their local communities.
