Carl Waits honored at convocation for years of service

“It was a total surprise but equally appreciated. The years have just been a labor of love and I never expect anything because of it," Carl Waits said.

Longtime DSISD employee, and Century News Sportswriter, Carl Waits received an honorary jersey in recognition of his years of service to the district at the annual staff convocation. Coach Waits, who currently works in the Transportation Department but has served many roles over the past 54 years, including high school coach, and was among five staff members who presented stories about their lives in front of their co-workers at the event.

“After my presentation at Convocation, on behalf of the school, Transportation Director, Pam Swanks, presented me with a football jersey with the number of years I have worked for DSISD,” Carl Waits said. “It was a total surprise but equally appreciated. The years have just been a labor of love and I never expect anything because of it. Dale Whitaker was the one that orchestrated the entire event.”

Carl is a well-known figure in Dripping Springs, as well as local historian. He authored “The Complete History of Dripping Springs, Texas”.
