Lady Tiger Basketball begins District play

District has begun for the Lady Tigers basketball team with mixed results, much like their 9-10 season has been. They opened with one of the weaker teams in district, Travis, and subdued them 76-16. However, points did not come as easily when they played district favorite Crockett and dropped a 32-28 decision.

Travis provided very little opposition from the get-go but did provide all players on the bench to play significant minutes for the Lady Tigers for playing depth later on. It was 24-5 after one but DS would shutout the Lady Rebels for the next two quarters (10-0; 26-0) for the easy win.

Crockett (17-2) was another story as the Lady Tigers were able to snatch defeat from the the jaws of victory. Nineteen turnovers certainly did not help the cause. The Lady Cougars would ease out to a 12-8 edge after one but the Lady Tigers would respond with a 6-0 shutout in the second to give them a 14-12 advantage at half. DS lengthened its lead in third with a good quarter to take a 25-19 lead into the fourth quarter and victory ahead. Things got reversed in a hurry as it was Crockett that had the big comeback quarter for a major win in district to give them a front seat.
