Dripping Springs’ Lytle graduates US Merchant Marine Academy

Alexis Marie Lytle of Dripping Springs recently graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, NY. Lytle earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission in the U. S. armed forces. She also earned a Merchant Marine officer license, qualifying her to serve as an officer on any ship in the U.S. flag merchant marine. Lytle is the daughter of Evan and Moira Zinn. Being part of the U.S. Merchant Marines runs in the family as Lytle’s father is a Captain in the U.S. Merchant Marine. As a graduate of USMMA, Captain Zinn earned an unlimited master’s license after going to sea for many years and is qualified to be the captain of any vessel on any ocean (ie, tanker, cruise ship, cargo vessel, etc).

The nasty, germy lives of humans

Human beings are downright filthy in their habits. That’s one of the surprising lessons from the current pandemic…and, it’s not just you or that other guy. It’s everybody, it’s us, it’s me…which is why I’ve added a washable, cotton mask, plastic gloves and a small container of hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes to my purse.

Free Hays County Sheriff’s Office app being released

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office has released a new smartphone application. This free app will serve as a new way for the sheriff’s office to connect with Hays County residents and visitors, providing information quickly and efficiently to anyone with a smartphone. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is the seventh county sheriff's office out of 254 counties in Texas to take advantage of this new technology.
