VFW recruiting, raising funds

Past VFW Commander Ronnie G. ‘Shorty’ Barnett and current Commander Jerry Martin manned a recruiting booth at the Dripping Springs Ag Boosters Rodeo over the weekend. In addition to recruiting new members, they set up a Buddy Poppy display for all the spectators that attended. They collected donations for the Buddy Poppies and those funds support the local VFW Post 2933 Relief Fund.

DSHS band bound for state

The Dripping Springs High School band earned a Division I rating at the UIL Region 18 Marching Contest on Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Austin. The Tiger band then advanced to the UIL Area D Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 23, in Pflugerville, where they finished in the top three. They will move on to the UIL 5A State Marching Contest on Nov. 1–2 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

DSHS Choir hits note at All-State auditions

The Dripping Springs High School choir recorded strong performances in the first round of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Choir auditions on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Bowie High School in Austin. Of the 28 DSHS students competing, 21 will perform in the All-Region Choir and 20 students will compete in the second round of auditions (pre area) in November.

Club Pilates comes to town

Club Pilates has officially opened its doors in Belterra, celebrating with a ribboncutting ceremony co-hosted by the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce. It is the eighth studio in the greater Austin area owned by husband and wife pair Hector and Molly Lindner.
