County Clerk substation closes in Dripping Springs
The Hays County Clerk substations in Wimberley and Dripping Springs have been closed, and they may not reopen. The substation in Kyle has also been closed, but there are plans for it to reopen in the future.

Anna Marie “Ann” Freeman
Anna Marie Freeman passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 11, 2022, graduating to Glory at the age of 92. Born February 20, 1930, in Nutley, New Jersey, Anna moved to Dripping Springs, TX, in 2014.

A skatepark for Dripping Springs
When Dennis Baldwin moved to Dripping Springs in 2011, there were few, if any, places to publicly skateboard. For anything more than the most basic of tricks, a skateboarder would have to make the drive into downtown Austin, facing traffic and crowds. Baldwin, a young father at the time, said he could make it work every now and then. But for children and teens wanting to learn and practice the sport, finding a good place to skateboard was more difficult.

City trash and recycle rates to increase
The rates for Dripping Springs residential trash and recycle collection services are scheduled to increase, following a city council meeting last week. The new rates will go into effect July 1.

Letter to the Editor: "Hays taxes are too darn high"
In helping a client with a tax issue involving Travis and Hays County, I was surprised to learn how much higher property taxes are in Hays County for the same value home. Some may think it’s because of skyrocketing tax appraisals, but that is not true. Hays County homeowners’ taxes are higher than necessary (and higher than those in Travis County) because your Hays officials, especially the Commissioners Court and School Boards have not adopted the 20% homestead exemption authorized by Texas Tax Code section 11.13(n). By comparison, Travis County, the City of Austin, and Lake Travis ISD have adopted it.
