Sue Lynn Blackburn, born January 6, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away December 12, 2017, at home in Dripping Springs, with her husband, John Hoag, and her two cats by her side.  Sue chose to be cremated, and a Celebration of Life was held in her memory April 22, 2018.

Linda LaRue Orsak

 

Linda LaRue Orsak was born January 26, 1945 in Austin, Texas and died April 4, 2018 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She and her husband lived in Dripping Springs for over 20 year.  Linda grew up in Pidcoke, Texas and lived in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee as well.  She was a believer in Jesus Christ and a graduate of Malcom Smith’s Bible Institute and she was trained as a prison chaplain at Wheaton College in Chicago, Illinois.  She deeply touched the lives of many through her classes about the unconditional love of God and through her prison ministry work. Many have shared that knowing Linda altered the course of their lives and that they would be forever grateful. Linda stayed in touch with and offered love and support to all members of her family, near and far.  She kept them all connected.

Jerry Don Yeaman

Jerry Don Yeaman

Jerry Don Yeaman passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018 at the age of 80. Jerry was born February 6, 1938 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Donald and Hazel Yeaman. He attended Oklahoma State University where he met and married Patricia Ann Bomgardner. Jerry would go on to work for CONOCO in Ponca City. Jerry's work with Conoco didn't keep him in Oklahoma for long; it took him across the country and around the world. In that time, he was blessed with 2 wonderful children. The three of them came full circle and ended up back in Houston, TX in 1977. It was here that he met and married Karen Thomas, now Yeaman.

Mary Ann, 71, of Austin, was born to Willie Mae Stafford and Charles Louis Williamson in Edinburg, TX on November 11, 1946. She graduated from Jones High School in Houston, TX and attended the University of Houston. Twice married, her first husband and the father of her two children was Henry Arnold Dewey. Her second husband was James Thomas of Houston.

Tom Armstrong

 

Tom Armstrong, a long-time member of Dripping Springs VFW Post 2933 and American Legion Post 290, passed away on March 21, at the age of 74. Armstrong was a career U.S. Army and Texas National Guard veteran, with two tours of Vietnam. He lived just west of Dripping Springs in Blanco County with his wife, Pam, who survived him. Services are pending and he will be enterred at a later date at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen/Ft. Hood.

“VFW Post 2933 is saddened to report the loss of one our long time members, Tom Armstrong. The post wishes to express its condolences to his wife Pam in this difficult time,” U.S. Army Col. (retired) Gary Hale said.
