Addams Family production wins top honors

The Dripping Springs High School (DSHS) production of “The Addams Family” was honored with four awards at the annual Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards Ceremony in April.

The production was recognized for the coveted awards of Best Production and Best Direction. In addition, Katie Haberman was recognized as “Best Actress in a Leading Role” for her performance as Wednesday Addams, and Cassie Martin was recognized as “Best Featured Performer” for the role of Grandma. 

The Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards celebrates the theatrical efforts of high school teacher-student productions in the area, with 38 schools competing, which represented the efforts of over 2,500 students.

The show received 12 nominations in all, more than any Austin-area school. The other nominations were for:

Best Musical Direction

Best Choreography

Best Ensemble

Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Emily Warkentin)

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Preston Willis)

Best Lighting Design

Best Costume Design

Best Technical Execution
