Jerry Don Yeaman

Jerry Don Yeaman

Jerry Don Yeaman passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018 at the age of 80. Jerry was born February 6, 1938 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Donald and Hazel Yeaman. He attended Oklahoma State University where he met and married Patricia Ann Bomgardner. Jerry would go on to work for CONOCO in Ponca City. Jerry's work with Conoco didn't keep him in Oklahoma for long; it took him across the country and around the world. In that time, he was blessed with 2 wonderful children. The three of them came full circle and ended up back in Houston, TX in 1977. It was here that he met and married Karen Thomas, now Yeaman. In 1983 Jerry and Karen followed their dream to leave corporate life behind, and moved to Dripping Springs, Texas where they opened 290 Fence & Ranch Supply Company. Together they ran the business for 30 years while raising exotic animals and 2 more children on their small ranch outside of Dripping Springs. Over the years in Dripping Springs he became a fixture to thousands of customers and neighbors who came by for morning coffee and fence talk. His strong moral compass, and love of life and people made him a great friend, businessman, mentor, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was a faithful churchgoer, as well as an accomplished fisherman (which requires almost as much praying). He was gentle, loving and kind; the truest person we should all aspire to be. Jerry battled Alzheimer's for the last years of his life and Karen was beside him through it all, showing strength and support and in the face of such a terrible disease. Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Karen. He also leaves behind his eldest daughter Melinda and her husband Jeff Hornsby, along with his grandchildren Corey DeMoss and Josie Hornsby; his younger daughter Megan and husband Dalton Aleskin; his eldest son Wade and his wife Caroline Yeaman, along with his granddaughter Madeline Yeaman; and his younger son Lathom Yeaman. His brothers John, wife Kathy Yeaman, and Jim, wife Susan Yeaman and sister-in-law Peggy Yeaman will carry on his memory, as will many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Hazel Yeaman, his oldest brother Richard Yeaman and his older brother Robert "Bob" Yeaman. A Memorial Service will be held on April 13, 2018, at 2:00pm at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Dripping Springs on Hwy 290 and Hays Country Acres Rd. A celebration of a life well lived will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the following: IncludingKids.org, a behavioral school for children with autism (mailing address:18401 Timber Forest Drive, Humble, TX 77346) Treasuresofjoy.org, a faith based day program for young adults with disabilities (mailing address: 7915 Baltzell Dr., Spring, TX 77389). Peace be with you.
