A school-record 12 Dripping Springs High School art students have advanced to the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) after earning regional and area medals at the Region 13 South competition on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Akins High School in Austin.
The state qualifiers are Raine Anderson, Audrey Avery, Verity Benco, Luca Capobianco, Julia Craigg, Ethan DeShazo, Emma Groszek, Charlie Nevin, Dani Nowzaradan, Jude Parks, Rhett Strauss and Lucy Timmins.
Avery and Timmins qualified for state for the third consecutive year, while Anderson earned her second state qualification.
In total, Dripping Springs High School students earned 71 regional medals.
The State Visual Arts Scholastic Event will be held Saturday, April 25 at San Marcos High School.
