Hays Co. Corrections Officer Arrested for Sexual Assault

A Hays County Corrections Officer, Miguel Simpson, has been arrested for Sexual Assault. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was formally notified of the arrest on Feb. 26 by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).

The arrest stems from an alleged assault that took place in New Braunfels on Feb. 1, and was reported by the victim on Feb. 3.

HCSO is conducting an ongoing administrative investigation concurrent with the criminal investigation. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office said it holds its personnel to the highest standards, and remains committed to transparency, accountability, and public trust.

The GCSO will be the lead agency in the criminal investigation. Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray said his office will continue to aggressively pursue those who prey on vulnerable victims.

“If the message hasn’t been clear before, let it be clear now: this will not be tolerated in Guadalupe County,” Ray said.

Ray commended investigators for their exceptional work and unwavering commitment to justice for crime victims.

“I also want to thank Sheriff Hipolito and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and cooperation throughout the investigation,” Ray said.
