It is certainly not an ideal situation when a young and learning team gets to take on the undefeated, No. 1 team in all of 6A basketball. Westlake entered the gym with a sparkling 29-0 record. The Lady Tigers just were not capable of disproving anything about Westlake in dropping the 71-32 decision. They did prove how wide the gap between where they are and where they want to be is - still pretty wide. All one can do is play the best you can and continue to improve.
It did not take long for Westlake to take command of the game. They finished the first quarter with a comfortable 20-7 lead. It was much the same in the second as the teams returned to the dressing rooms at the half with the Lady Chaps owning a 36-13 lead. After the third the lead had been extended to 60-24. Reserves got to see considerable action in the fourth.
