Tigers lose a tough one to Lake Travis

Over the years, the basketball matchup between the Tigers and Lake Travis has always been a well-contested game for an outcome, especially when it is a district game. The effort by both teams was as historical as ever, but neither team had the overall talent as past teams. They both battled to the end and it was the surge in the final quarter that allowed the Cavaliers to ease out to the final 52-45 victory.

Both teams struggled to put any points on the board during the first half. After swapping leads in the initial quarter LT prevailed 10-8. The second went much the same with the Tigers having three lead changes and four ties. At the half, the game had to start all over again with an 18-18 score.

Scoring in the second half did pick up and the scorekeeper had to stay awake. The biggest lead by LT was five (31-26, 35-30) before the quarter ended 35-31. Rushton Budge was the only Tiger that could consistently score (24) and in the fourth LT showed a strength they have always had and that was rebounding. They were able to control the defensive side, limiting the Tigers to one attempt per shot while the Cavaliers would be easing out to a safe lead. Again the Tigers could get no closer than five points as the clock ran out of time.

Scoring: Budge 24, Grant Reagan 11, Judah Satterfield 6, Will Gardiner 2, Isaac Terry 2.
