Burn ban activated for Hays County

Hays County is under a burn ban through Jan. 20, 2026, due to worsening dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfire. After consultation with Hays County Emergency Management personnel, outdoor burning is prohibited during this period.

There are currently no restrictions on fireworks, Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said.

“However, we strongly urge residents to use caution and remain mindful of the elevated fire risk,” Becerra said. “I encourage all community members to stay alert, follow fire-safety guidelines, and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.”
