Got to see the Drippings Springs Lady Tigers basketball team play Legacy Ranch, a new school from the Liberty Hill ISD, last week. Was very impressed with what I saw. It was obvious these young ladies had been willing to spend extra time in gyms honing their overall skills and fundamentals. Scoring accuracy and a willingness to take the shots when they had them were much improved. Ball-handling was excellent in finding the open person. Defense was impressive as the players hawked the rebounds and went after loose balls. Even though Legacy is a fairly new school, a team has to use these games to make it a habit when you are playing the better teams ahead. Kudos to new coach, Lauren Perez for her efforts.
Their trademark at this point of the season has been fast starts. True in this game as they quickly moved out to a 12-2 lead enroute to a 26-10 first quarter and 41-29 at half. They went on to take the win 77-49. This puts them at 5-3 on the season. Prior to this game, the Lady Tigers competed in the Cornerstone Christian tourney where they lost to Godley 53-44 before taking Belton in OT 71-64 and Los Fresnos 58-46.
