For Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29, and throughout the holiday season, support your local small businesses and contribute to the vibrancy of our community! Here are a few recommendations to get you started.
SHOP: Monkee’s of Dripping Springs
Start your day with shopping at Monkee’s of Dripping Springs. This new high-end boutique in Windmill Center is operated by mother-daughter duo Elona Appleby and Lilly Kulla. Appleby said that she opened her shop after noticing a need for more shopping options in the area.

Appleby said she has enjoyed meeting new people and making new connections over the past year.
“There are some wonderful people who live in our town,” Appleby said. “I just want to say thank you to our community for supporting two immigrant women who’ve always dreamed of doing what we get to now do!”
DINE: Garbo’s Lobster
After shopping at Monkee’s, just walk a few doors down to grab some lunch at Garbo’s! Growing up on the East Coast, Heidi Garbo and her sisters Samantha and Hannah spent many memorable days at the oceanside on sandy beaches. Their family has been in the lobster industry for over 50 years, and she grew up loving fresh seafood.
Unfortunately, when she moved to Austin in 2012, New England cuisine was one of the only kinds of food she couldn’t seem to find anywhere. And so Garbo’s was born.

“Now, we are actually the largest retailer of lobster in Texas,” Garbo said.
She said first-time visitors should definitely try their famous lobster rolls. But they also have a fish and chips special on Tuesdays and a hamburger special on Thursdays.
UNWIND: Fitzhugh Brewing
There’s no better place to end your day than Fitzhugh Brewing. There’s always something new on the beer menu, and the often poetic descriptions show exactly how much love and care go into the brewing process. Order two flights and you can sample them all.

“Our beer style is Old World recipes and styles from different countries that then meet a modern twist,” said owner Kerbey Smith
The creative process is directed by their head brewer, Nathan Rice. But if you’re not into beer, they offer a variety of other drinks as well, and they have great options on their food menu.
