The Dripping Springs High School BEST Robotics program will welcome schools from around the Hill Country region for a full day of head-to-head robot action on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free to attend anytime during the day and is open to all ages. Spectators are urged to bring their Tiger spirit and cheer loudly for the robots as teams compete on the game field.
BEST stands for Boosting Engineering Science & Technology, and BEST Robotics, bestrobotics.org, is a national program for grades 6–12 that features an eight-week season that includes both on-field performance and judged presentations. The program emphasizes teamwork, communication, and engineering design.
Competition day events feature student-designed and student-built machines tackling an annual themed challenge. Matches are fast paced, the stands get loud, and the atmosphere is family friendly. Expect a mix of engineering problem solving and pep-rally energy as teams test drive strategy, software, and quick repairs between rounds. This year the competition centers around an AI-theme game field called Factoids. Last year, the DSHS team qualified to head to the UIL state-competition in Dallas.
Concessions will be available. For more information on the DSHS Team, Dripping Logistics, visit www.bit.ly/dshsbest.
