The historic Phillips Cemetery on RR12 has partnered with Warriors Remembrance & Research Foundation (WRRF) to honor the more than 250 veterans buried at the cemetery by cleaning the sites and resetting gravestones that may have shifted.
The WRRF recently placed flags on each veteran’s grave. This Saturday, Nov. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m., WRRF will have a cleaning / resetting event at the cemetery. They said it’s a big job, and they would welcome help from volunteers.
WRRF is a non-profit started in February 2024 by then-10 year old Nicholas Aidan. Nicholas was troubled by the condition of the graves of many veterans and believed that he could fix that problem. With the support of his family and volunteers, WRRF now cares for the graves of more than 600 veterans in 13 cemeteries all over Texas. The Phillips Cemetery is the most recent cemetery to partner with WRRF.
Anyone wishing to volunteer can go to www.remember4veterans.com for more information and to register. There are also cleaning / resetting events scheduled for Dec. 6 and Dec. 13, weather permitting.
