Dripping Springs ISD held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Adult Transition Services (18+ Program) Center on Nov. 13. The new facility will be located next to the Sycamore Springs campus.
Funded through DSISD’s 2023 Bond, the facility will serve 18- to 22-year-old special education students who have met graduation requirements but require continued services for job, self-help, and/or independent living skills.
Through this federally-required program, students are able to participate in internships, apprenticeships, and paid employment, to prepare them for competitive jobs after graduation.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026 and be completed before the 2026–27 school year. The program was previously housed in 40-year-old portables behind Dripping Springs High School and is temporarily located at Wildwood Springs Elementary for the 2025–26 school year.
The groundbreaking ceremony included a brief program with remarks from Superintendent Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz, Board President Dr. Stefani Reinold and Director of Special Services Brook Roberts. Several students also spoke.
“It was a great day. I think my favorite part was the speeches by the students who will help us open that building and that program,” trustee Kim Cousins said. “They made it very personal. To see the opportunities that these students are going to have when this building is finished is just absolutely remarkable.”
