Terra Cotta Botanical Boutique opens shop on Mercer Street

A new shop, Terra Cotta Botanical Boutique, has opened its doors on Mercer Street. Owner Marisol Soza, who is a Texas State graduate in horticulture and business, is transforming her knowledge and passion about plants into a special space in the downtown district.

“There’s just so many things in here that, honestly, are just unusual and cool,” Soza said. “Every time I see a plant, I’m always amazed by how much happiness it can still bring me, even after working with them for nine years or something. I’m still so, so enthralled with them.”

Soza confesses that she’s a bit of a plant nerd.

“I am one of those crazy plant people,” Soza said. “I’ll walk in here and the first thing I’ll do is say hi to the plants.”

Her shop is located at the former site of Goldie’s Fine Jewelry. Soza took about three months to get the space renovated to suit her needs and personality. One of her favorite touches is her record nook.

“I like having my vinyl here, and being able to listen to music that’s going to help me kind of stay in my zone,” Soza said.

Soza carries all the accessories that you could need for taking care of your plants, like fertilizers, shears, little pruners, moisture meters, and ceramic pots. She also loves getting to add cute extra items to her inventory.

“I love unboxing new candles and getting to smell all of the new scents. I love all the books that I get, and puzzles, and things that are not typically what you would see inside of a plant store,” Soza said.

Another favorite aspect of having her own shop is being able to bring her dog, Olive, to work.

“She is half cocker spaniel and then half Australian shepherd,” Soza said. “She’s definitely a highlight to the store.”

Soza said everyone in Dripping Springs has been very supportive and she’s had nothing but good feedback. She’s looking forward to meeting more people during the holiday season.

“I am really excited for Christmas on Mercer Street,” Soza said. “I think that’s gonna be a really great time.”
