At the Dripping Springs City Council and Board of Adjustment meeting on Sept. 2, council members heard a variety of presentations on variances, fee schedules and bid proposals.
Two proclamations were made, one naming the week of Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week, as established by Public Law 915. This marks the two hundred and thirtyeighth anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention. Another proclamation recognized September to November 2025 and March to May 2026 as “Lights Out Migratory Months” in the City of Dripping Springs. The Lights Out Program encourages businesses and community members to turn off exterior lights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. during migratory months to re- duce light pollution, providing safe and natural migration routes for birds.
The council also held a public hearing on the proposed 2025 ad valorem tax and levy of $0.2267 per $100 of assessed valuation of all taxable property within the corporate city limits. No members of the public were present to speak.
A public hearing and consideration of approval for the 2025-2026 Fiscal Year Municipal Budget was also included on the evening’s business agenda. No members of the public were present to speak. The council acted to postpone a vote until its next meeting.
That meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. It will be held at City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, Dripping Springs, Texas, or it can be viewed online at www.cityofdrippingsprings. com.
