The Pound House Farmstead hosted a Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, Aug. 30. The free community day featured a fire engine and ambulance from North Hays County Fire/Rescue. Kids could even try their hand at using a remote control to operate the firetruck’s sprayer.

Pedernales Electric Cooperative was onsite with a bucket truck, and there was also a dump truck, a tractor, a skid steer and more.

Donations for the event benefitted the Pound House Farmstead and Museum, which is the former home of Dr. Joseph M. Pound and his family, who are considered one of the founding families of Dripping Springs. The Pound House is included on the National Register of Historic Places and has been a Texas State Historical Landmark since 1965. In addition to the house, the property features a renovated barn, smokehouse, windmill, and garden areas. It has been a museum since 2003.

The museum is open on Saturdays and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, and kids under the age of 5 are free.
